"For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me" (Psalm 51:3)
"David said, "My sin is ever before me." There's one thing we need above everything else; it's something we don't talk very much about these days: We need a mighty avalanche of the conviction of sin." ---Pastor Leonard Ravenhill AMEN!!! A mighty avalanche of the conviction of sin always precedes a Conversion and Spiritual Revival. One of the hindrances to personal revivals and communal revivals in our Churches today is that we have taken sin too lightly; we don't take sin too seriously Which is because we have lost awe of GOD and awe of the tremendous Glory of the Holiness of our LORD. As our brother David cried above, under the inspiration of the HOLY SPIRIT; that ought to be our daily cry>>> "my sin is always before me" Unless my sin is always before me, I wouldn't see my desperate need for GOD'S unending grace and mercy, Unless I am always aware of my sin, I wouldn't see my need to daily, perpetually abide in Christ, for without Him I can do nothing (John 15) Notice David didn't say "sins", he said "sin", referring to the very depth of fallen nature in him, not just his external, individual sins, but his sinful tendencies as a whole Unless we are constantly, daily aware of our fallen flesh, our weakness, our bankruptcy and our perpetual need of our LORD and Cleansing Savior JESUS CHRIST, we cannot grow in holiness as we ought to. Many believers remain Spiritually immature and a hindrance to their Sanctification simply because they remain blind to their sinfulness and blind to the glory and holiness of our LORD. So then, what can we do to truly, daily abide by this truth? Do we need to sin more, so that we may be more aware of our sinfulness? Absolutely NOT. If that were true, that would imply that, the more Godly and holy a Christian becomes, the less holy he/she can become, because of the lesser sins he commits. It is not the multitudes of our sins that make us most humble and thirsty for righteousness, but rather, it is the Infinitely Immense glory of the Holiness of CHRIST. Hence why the most humble Christians are not the most sinful; the most humble and most Godly Christians are actually the least sinful and most obedient to the LORD Why is it so? Because our LORD JESUS CHRIST IS INFINITELY HOLY, and those who draw nearer to Him, receive a Brighter Light that opens their Spiritual eyes to much deeper sins in them that need to be cleansed Such that, the closer you're to the LORD, the more holy you become, but the more discerning you are of your hidden sins, which means the more humble you become Our awareness of our sinfulness shouldn't only come from the sins we commit; rather, most importantly, it should come from our perpetual beholding of the glory and the holiness of GOD our FATHER and our LORD JESUS CHRIST (2Corinthians 3:18) The impetus for our pursuit of holiness is not by looking at our visible sins, or by comparing ourselves to others; BUT RATHER BY COMPARING OURSELVES TO THE ONE AND ONLY PERFECT ONE: OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. My friends, it matters not how Godly and Christlike you are, you always have an infinite room for improvement, because compared to CHRIST, you are always infinitely less holy There are always more sins to confess and more sins to be cleansed from, and more Godly, holy virtues to be perfected in us. But how can we continually behold the glory of our LORD? ONLY VIA HIS WORD The only way we may continue to grow in holiness, is through continually studying, meditating and abiding in GOD'S holy word (Joshua 1:8, Matthew 4:4) We are Sanctified by GOD'S Truth, which is His holy word, the Bible (John 17:17) The written word is a gift from GOD that provides us with a revelation of the Glory of the Living Word (JESUS CHRIST), so that by beholding Him, we may be transformed into His image perpetually, which has been GOD'S Predestined will for all His children (Romans 8:29) Brethren, may we pray for a personal Spiritual revival in our hearts, in our fellowship with our LORD. If we want revival in our Churches, it must begin with us individually Oh LORD we pray, revive us. GOD BLESS
