Key Text: Matthew 10: 5-25.
I love this passage! Jesus sent his disciples out to places that were full of unbelievers because he trusted them to deliver the good news of The Lord! He didn't send them to places with other believers, but rather he wanted them to go out and minister to the lost. Sometimes as Christians we can feel so isolated because the rest of the world is not like us. But we can rest assured that God has a divine purpose for placing us where he has! We must remember that we won't always see the fruit of our ministry, but if we remain faithful to plant a seed, God will be faithful water it. (James 5:7 & Matthew 13:31-32). Sometimes, in the fields we are in, we are surrounded by so many who want to push away the word and the commandments of The Lord, and it can be easy to get discouraged. As true followers of Christ, sometimes it can feel like we are outsiders even among other believers! But God knows your struggles. (“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves." - Matthew 10:16) and he has been preparing you for a time such as this! ("When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you." - Matthew 10:19-20) Sometimes others may look at us differently because there is so much faith and joy and love welling up inside of us that the spirit of The Lord just naturally overflows out into everything we do! This should not make us feel discouraged, we should praise God anytime anyone asks us "what is wrong with you, or why are you different?" Because there is a perfect time to share the love that has been given to us. "Different" is how we should be. The more we fill ourselves up with Christ the more "different" we become. Sometimes we may be persecuted for this, but count it all joy! "And you will be hated by all for my names sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved." - Matthew 10:22) Serving Christ in a world that chooses not to can sometimes feel so isolating. But remember, we are not alone... we are simply set apart. ("You are to be holy to me, because I, The Lord, am holy, and I have set you apart from other nations to be my own." - Leviticus 20:26) --Tia, Guest Writer |
